The VRM Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the Vendor Resource Management (VRM) Director with day-to-day operations and the development and implementation of staffing/resource management for production coding and deficiency management. The VRM Assistant Director develops, directs, and coordinates assigned HIM coding activities within the Vendor Resource Management team. Actively monitors VRM employee performance and rewards or disciplines accordingly. The VRM Assistant Director, along with the management team, works with the HIM, Coding, and Abstraction Team/Leadership to improve the accuracy and quality of patient data and ensure adequate staffing to maintain timely production of work. The VRM Assistant Director will be responsible for initiating, executing, and managing projects for the VRM team associated with company-wide HIM initiatives. The VRM Assistant Director may initiate, execute, and manage projects that impact production associated with HIM inpatient coding, outpatient coding and deficiency management. This includes but is not limited to the following initiatives: facility acquisitions or divestitures, implementation of new coding/EMR technology, and implementation of new workflows/processes. What you will do in this role: Performs various assignments under the direction of the Director. Assists the Director in planning, developing, organizing, and implementing day-to-day operations. Provides direct oversight to the VRM resource management team. This includes VRM Operations, deficiency management. Ensures complete, accurate, timely and consistent work, while adhering to published coding guidelines and Parallon policies and procedures. Coaches and helps develop managers and team members. Proactively identifies and manages significant issues in workflow (including corresponding communications and escalation paths), status of projects, barriers and successes. Facilitates problem-solving and collaboration with functional areas. Responsible for ensuring staff compliance with documented and established workflow guidelines as it relates to management of work queues. Works with multi-disciplinary teams in addressing issues. Identifies and implements process improvements to decrease costs and improve service applicable stakeholders. Assists with developing and implementing written policies and procedures that govern the operation of the VRM team. Assists in the development of strategy, specific goals, objectives, budgets and performance standards. Monitors performance and communicates with Information Technology management to ensure optimal use of installed technology and identification of future needs. Stays abreast of regulatory requirements and company compliance policies, ensuring compliance and timely staff education and training. Assumes a lead role for innovation, knowledge of sharing and leading practices with the management team. Assist with review of quality standards, productivity standards, coding guidelines, policies and procedures periodically, and makes recommendations to assure continued compliance with current regulations. Reports issues or trends to the Director. Facilitates communication with strategy partners with any concerns for staffing, TAT, and process/quality issues. Assists in training and education for VRM staff and vendors. Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement.” Prepares outcome reports for the Director and Leadership. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field required, ideally in areas like HIM, Business Administration, IT, or Organizational/Change Management. Minimum 3 years health care management/leadership experience strongly preferred. Minimum of 3 years HIM and/or coding experience strongly preferred. Consulting or proven work experience in areas of process reengineering, shared services, project management, and/or managing a large resource pool strongly preferred. Certificate / License: RHIA, RHIT and/or CCS required. Parallon
