Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) is Madison's public recreation provider. MSCR offers a wide variety of athletic, recreational, arts and enrichment activities and classes for all ages in an accessible, inclusive setting. Programs include swimming instruction, MSCR on the Move, arts & enrichment classes, youth summer camps, sports camps & clinics, adult & 50+ fitness, adult sport leagues including pickleball, softball and tennis, and a wide variety of outdoor pursuits including paddling sports, pontoon trips, camping, orienteering and challenge courses.
As a department of the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD), MSCR also provides afterschool enrichment activities, clubs and sports as well as summer programming in Madison elementary, middle and high schools, Allied Learning Center and Meadowood Neighborhood Center. Afterschool clubs and sports include: arts & enrichment, homework/academic clubs, drama, dance, skiing, soccer, basketball, volleyball, cross country and much more!
Program Description:
MSCR Sports Programming aims to inspire the community to lead active, healthy lives by connecting each other through community leagues, classes and wellness activities. MSCR youth sports run at various Madison Schools. Programs include youth flag football, basketball, T-ball/baseball and a variety of other sports classes.
Job Description & Duties:
The Youth Sports Field Supervisor will assist the Sports Specialist with the coordination and implementation of all youth sports programming throughout the Madison community.
This position will meet the day-to-day needs of various programs such as:
- Equipment drop off and pick up
- Program set up and tear down,
- Subbing as an instructor for classes
- Assisting in managing and coaching staff
Start Date: September 2025
Work Location: Various MMSD schools throughout the city / MSCR West
Hours/week: 10-18.5 hours per week
Work hours: Evenings 5pm-8pm Monday - Thursday
Payrate: 18.00 - 22.00 /hour
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience supervising staff
- Experience working in a youth sports or camp setting
- Some experience coaching or playing sports
- Experienced coaching youth sports
- Previous youth sports programming experience
