Summer Camp at the JCCSF offers one-week to three-week sessions in both the traditional day camp and specialty camp settings for campers in grades K-8. Our classic day camps feature arts & crafts, STEAM projects, and sports. Specialty camps include visual arts, nature exploration, musical theater, science and more. STEM Camp is in session June 9 – August 22, 2025. The STEM Specialist creates, organizes, and implements 11 weeks of camp. STEM camps are offered for campers in grades 1-5. Campers will be introduced to the world of all things science through hands-on experience and exploration. The STEM Specialist position requires strong classroom management skills and must be able to implement a well-rounded STEM curriculum for youth ages 6 - 11. RESPONSIBILITIES Organize and implement interactive, age-appropriate science curriculum for grades 1-5. Prepare for and deliver 11 weeks of camp programming, including creating supply lists, curriculum development, and teaching daily lessons. Supervise general counselors (when applicable). Support camper drop-off and pick-up processes. Provide excellent customer service to camp families by communicating with them about their camper’s experience. Set up camp room and clean up daily. Implement daily safety checks of tools and equipment. Practice personal leadership skills. Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors. Additional responsibilities as required. REQUIREMENTS At least 1 year as an educator. Knowledge and ability to explain and facilitate age-appropriate skills for elementary school-aged campers. Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral. Passion for maker projects, informal education, and youth programs. Knowledge of summer camps preferred. Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently. Must have enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to improvise. WORKING CONDITIONS Will be working directly with youth. Camps take place primarily on-site at the JCCSF. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Move and set up program supplies and equipment; stand/walk for approximately 6 hours a day. STATUS Seasonal, non-exempt, non-benefited position. HOURS Up to 10 hours of prep work per week from 5/1/2025 – 5/31/2025; 37.5 hours per week from 6/2/2025 – 8/22/2025. SCHEDULE Summer Direct Service Hours: June 9, 2025-August 8, 2025.
