Job Title: Surgical Technologist - Oral Surgery Department: Dental - Oral Surgery Location: Pluta Dental Hours Per Week: 40 Schedule: Monday - Friday | Days Summary As an Oral Surgery Surgical Tech, you are crucial in the efficiency and overall success of operations. Under supervision of Oral Surgeon or manager, functions as an Oral Surgery assistant. Can perform additional tasks as allowed under NYS law for Licensed Dental Assistants. Responsibilities Discuss pre-op/post-op instructions with patient. Prepare patient for oral surgery procedures, review medical history, monitor vitals during sedation. Assist oral surgeon by maintaining patient airway. Post-op removal of patient IV. Prepare patient for Dentist by seating and draping, adjust chair. Transfer instruments and perform 4-handed dentistry. Mix filling compounds as per practice or Dentist's preference. Place and position suction tubes as directed by Dentist. Required Qualifications Completed a military surgical technology program OR Evidence of employment as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for at least one year between 12/31/10 - 12/31/14 (Grand-Fathering Clause) OR Graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology program and holds Certified Surgical Technologist certification from NBSTSA within 12 months of graduation. Required Licensure/Certification: Military surgical tech experience OR Certified Surgical Technologist certification and degree in Surgical Technology. Education Licenses / Certifications Physical Requirements Medium Work - Exerting 20-50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly. Requires frequent walking, standing, or squatting. Additional Information Accommodations will be considered for physical requirements reported by employees or physicians.
