Full-Time, Contract to Hire Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled VMware Systems Administrator to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with VMware ESXi, and a strong background in maintaining, creating, and optimizing VMware clusters in a high-availability environment. This role is crucial to ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our virtualized infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Install, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter. Build, manage, and monitor VMware clusters to support production and development environments. Perform upgrades and patching of VMware components to ensure system security and stability. Monitor system performance and proactively identify issues or areas for optimization. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtual machines, storage, networking, and host systems. Manage and maintain resource pools and ensure optimal load balancing across clusters. Implement and test disaster recovery plans for VMware infrastructure. Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and infrastructure diagrams. Collaborate with storage, networking, and security teams to support cross-functional infrastructure needs. Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours maintenance as needed. Required Qualifications: 3+ years of experience as a VMware Systems Administrator or similar role. Strong hands-on experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter. Proven experience in building and maintaining VMware clusters. Familiarity with virtual networking, distributed switches, and storage integration (iSCSI, NFS, SAN). Experience with tools such as VMware vRealize, vSphere Replication, and Site Recovery Manager (SRM) is a plus. Solid understanding of Windows and/or Linux server administration in a virtualized environment. Experience with scripting tools such as PowerCLI or PowerShell for automation is a plus. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications: VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or higher certification. Experience in enterprise or government environments. Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments or public cloud integrations (AWS, Azure) is a bonus. $80,000 - $100,000 a year #J-18808-Ljbffr
