Summary
The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing manufacturing operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key Activities
- Overseeing quality control throughout the production process.
- Assisting the Production Manager with administrative tasks like production schedules and appointing labor.
- Creating appropriate paperwork for production.
- Improving scheduling, production process, and workflow, while minimizing labor and waste.
- Upholding food safety, USDA, FDA, GMPs, HACCP, and other food-related compliances.
- Identifying and implementing solutions for improving the department and organization.
- Promoting the growth of the production team through ongoing training and mentoring.
- Providing continuous updates and recommendations to management.
- Coordinating and reporting day-to-day activities with the Production Manager.
- Assisting in hiring and training new team members.
- Writing original procedures and maintaining the accuracy of existing procedures.
- Establishing goals for production supervisors and leads.
- Holding weekly production meetings.
- Conducting employee training and safety meetings.
- Clearly and regularly providing management with production, employee, and equipment updates and issues as they arise.
- Assisting in scheduling regular maintenance on the equipment and handling issues as they occur.
Preferred Skills
- Preferred knowledge of USDA, FDA, GMPs, ISO 9001, HACCP, and OSHA regulations.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish ideal, some Spanish required.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (business management, food and beverage management, etc.) or experience in the food and beverage industry.
- Minimum Experience: 2-4 Years Assistant Production Management.
