Container Delivery Truck Driver Position

We are looking for a driver to drop off business dumpsters at businesses in the Lafayette area, Tippecanoe County, and the surrounding counties.

The container delivery driver’s primary task is to deliver commercial dumpsters to local businesses. Each week Trash Kans gains new business customers, and these businesses require a permanent garbage dumpster/container at their location. You’ll be given a list of business addresses each day and the corresponding dumpster sizes that these businesses require. Using our specialized truck with hydraulic forks, you’ll load the commercial container onto your truck for delivery. Upon arrival at the business, you’ll again use the hydraulic forks to place the container where designated.

The position is primarily working within Tippecanoe County, Indiana and deliveries are also made throughout the surrounding Indiana counties.

We provide commercial and residential garbage service for the Lafayette, Indiana area beyond. Trash Kans is a local garbage company and we take pride in supporting our neighbors during their clean-up projects and with weekly garbage service. In addition to the Tippecanoe area, we also serve customers in the surrounding counties of Benton, Boone, Carroll, Cass, Clinton, Fountain, Hendricks, Howard, Montgomery, Warren and White.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Frequent lifting of greater than 50#; pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting.
• Motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
• Climbing in and out and on equipment regularly throughout the day.
• Exposure to weather and temperature extremes outdoors; in cab driving.
• Exposure to dirt, odors, noise, throughout the workday.
• The level of physical activity will vary depending upon the work assignment.

Key Job Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Operates vehicle in safe and efficient manner.
• Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings.
• Immediately reports any unsafe situations or service issues to manager or dispatch.
• Immediately notifies the manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Driving garbage containers to business sites.
• Keeping company equipment clean and in working order.
• Being able to find various job sites either using maps or GPS.
• Confirm understanding of customer needs, issues, and requests.
• Report to work on time for daily start time.
• Being able to use hydraulic controls to load and drop off containers (will train).
• Must be able to drive truck with automatic transmission.
• Must be willing to work in all types of weather conditions.
• Must complete paperwork and vehicle condition reports daily.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• Driving experience is a plus.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to pass physical exam and drug screen.
