The Accounting Coordinator position in Endowment Accounting is responsible for professional Accounting duties and providing expertise related to Not for Profit organizations, including all aspects of reviewing financial requests, verifying balances, approving signature authority, and fielding questions related to these requests. This position is also responsible for reconciling all checking accounts, investment accounts, reporting sales tax, recording accounts receivable and payable, providing auditors with all information and work papers requested, and preparing financial statements and related reports on a quarterly basis. Acts as accounting liaison with the Controller’s Office and other departments and external agencies with respect to financial reporting, tax reporting & compliance, journal entry preparation/approval, audit/reconciliation of accounts, audit of requests for payment, and assisting with the preparation of the annual financial report. The position is responsible for preparing and reviewing all types of transactions in compliance with approved budgets and University/department procedures, preparation of appropriate reports as needed for analysis, corresponding with other departments concerning accounting and financial information, reconciling and ensuring appropriate journal entry, and determining proper handling of financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and approving within designated limits, policies or contracts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum of three years of professional accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Accounting or related field
- Certified Public Accountant
- Accounting experience in a not for profit setting or in public accounting
Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, Some overtime required.
