Warehouse Supervisor Job Description
Our Warehouse Supervisor team oversees the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient storage, handling, and dispatch of goods. Responsibilities include leading a fast-paced team, optimizing processes, maintaining safety standards, ensuring inventory accuracy, and utilizing WMS systems for reporting and order management. The role involves coordinating with other departments, overseeing receiving activities, and implementing inventory control strategies. Warehouse Supervisors also ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
Work Environment
- Onsite role at UNFI location.
- Involves moving around the warehouse floor with potential hazards from machinery such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and mechanized systems.
- Warehouse temperatures may vary from -20 to 70 degrees; noise levels are within acceptable ranges.
Position Purpose
Supervise warehouse shipping and receiving activities for a specific shift/area, ensuring functions are performed within company guidelines. Provide excellent customer service through accurate handling of inbound and outbound products.
Job Responsibilities
- Schedule and supervise receiving associates.
- Control production standards and ensure accuracy of receiving using proper systems.
- Coordinate with Inventory Control on slotting, product rotation, and space allocation; maintain inventory records.
- Conduct daily safety, productivity, and accuracy meetings.
- Communicate with Transportation regarding flow and receipt of backhauls.
- Supervise scheduling of inbound loads and sign for deliveries.
- Ensure safety, security, sanitation, and pest control standards are maintained through daily warehouse walks.
- Develop and maintain good interdepartmental relationships.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of warehousing operations with supervisory experience, preferably with UNFI.
- Good supervisory, communication, and interpretive skills.
- Analytical abilities for administrative tasks and safety compliance.
- Ability to concentrate amidst interruptions.
- Basic computer skills; experience with word processing and spreadsheets is a plus.
- Good judgment, especially when supervision is not immediate.
