Summary: Vaxcyte is looking for an energetic and talented individual to lead Vaxcyte’s Physical Security organization. The primary function of this Director-level position is to lead Physical Security operations for all Vaxcyte global sites, to include offices, laboratories, clinical/manufacturing sites, etc. This position will develop, manage and grow a high-performing and service-centric team comprised of full-time employees, contingent workers and 3rd party partners. Beyond functional and technical experience, primary keys to success for this role focus on relationships, culture, trust, forward thought, and operational excellence. Note: 24x7 on-call support is required of this role. Essential Functions:
Develop and mature the physical security function at Vaxcyte, including access control and monitoring, executive protection, corporate physical security and ongoing monitoring of news and events which may impact Vaxcyte’s operations or employees. Enhance the security program, ensure regulatory compliance, optimizing access and strengthening the enterprise security posture by implementing best in class, risk appropriate, security technologies, policies and procedures. Work collaboratively with stakeholders, including Vaxcyte executives, to develop security processes and implement protection for corporate locations, industry and corporate events, and personal residences. Develop and lead our Physical Security team in the identification, development and deployment of security technologies and processes. Deploy comprehensive visibility technologies and alerting processes throughout Vaxcyte’s global sites. Develop, communicate and implement executive protection for Vaxcyte’s leadership. Partner across the organization to maintain regulatory compliance for physical security across multiple countries and regions. This includes SOC standards. Track industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the program remains innovative and effective. Track current events and weather, measuring their impacts to Vaxcyte’s operations, sites and personnel. Develop key results and performance metrics, communicating them on a regular basis to all levels of Vaxcyte’s leadership. Responsible for the development, implementation and oversight of Vaxcyte Physical Security training, processes, procedures and requirements. Develop and manage a budget to support operational and capital requirements. Complete assessments and audits to measure the efficiency of Vaxcyte’s compliance and security, access control and related systems. Ability to understand and interpret laws and regulatory requirements related to information protection; develop and implement appropriate processes to achieve and maintain compliance and reduce risk. Responsible for Vaxcyte’s Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP). Occasional travel, including international, will be required. Requirements:
BS in a STEM, political science or other technical-related degree preferred and minimum 12 years’ Physical Security experience with at least 5 years of in-house security leadership and developing security programs. Other combinations of education and/or experience may be considered. 5+ years’ people-management experience. Strong, proactive communication skills. Expertise creating physical security site plans for corporate locations, manufacturing sites and personal residences. Knowledge of contemporary security technologies. Experience working with local, state and federal law enforcement. Experience liaising with foreign law enforcement. Ability to provide risk-based guidance for corporate travel and events. Experience building and leading high-performance teams. Experience developing and complying with policies, standards and processes. Experience managing a global team in multiple time zones. Ability to influence and motivate cross-functional teams. Ability to develop multi-year plans, objectives and key results, key performance indicators and communicate all of the above to stakeholders at multiple levels. Ability to interact with company executives in a clear and concise manner, providing guidance and expertise in high-stress situations. Develop risk appropriate Emergency Operation and Action Plans (EOP and EAP). Assess the need for the development and establishment of a global security operations center (GSOC). Lead and manage a team of security analysts and operators to the operation of a GSOC. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement. Oversee 24x7 monitoring of security systems, including CCTV, access control, intrusion detection and threat intelligence feeds. Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) certifications and/or advanced degree will be considered a plus. Reports to:
