Position Overview: Responsible for the development, management, and oversight of the medical oncology service. The role involves diagnosing and managing small animal cancer patients referred or presented at the facility. Additionally, the position includes teaching and training veterinary students, externs, and house officers.
Important Note: UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, San Diego Satellite Specialty Referral and 24-Hour Emergency Hospital (VMC-SC) is recruiting for two positions: one Veterinary Medical Oncologist (VETERINARIAN 4) and one Veterinary Medical Oncologist (VETERINARIAN 5), based on licensure and experience. Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent.
- Licensed to practice in California by the hire date.
- Completion of an oncology residency (for DVM applicants).
- Board certification in ACVIM (Medical Oncology).
- At least five years of small animal practice experience.
- Experience teaching veterinary students or house officers.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to work collaboratively.
- Expert diagnostic and decision-making skills in oncology.
- Ability to diagnose animal conditions and recommend treatments.
Key Responsibilities:
- 90% clinical service.
- 10% other duties.

The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine is expanding its veterinary specialty hospital in Southern California, including a satellite referral and emergency hospital in San Diego. This facility aims to provide top-tier care, support research, and expand UC Davis's outreach in the region.
Position Details:
- Salary: $129,000 - $294,000 annually.
- Location: San Diego, CA.
- Employment Type: Full-time, Staff: Career.
- Work Schedule: Typically four 10-hour days, with occasional weekends and on-call.
