Overview
Vineyard Management company based in Napa Valley is looking to hire an Assistant Viticulturist to join its close-knit team. This position is a key member of the management team and requires the ability to manage multiple, complex tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality with client information.
The Assistant Viticulturist will support the Viticulturist in all aspects of vineyard operations. This role involves hands-on work in the vineyard, data collection, and analysis to ensure the health and productivity of grapevines. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in viticulture and a desire to learn more about vineyard practices.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A degree in viticulture, enology, agriculture, or a related field preferred. Hands-on vineyard farming for a minimum of 2 years preferred. Basic knowledge of grapevine biology, vineyard operations, and sustainable practices. Reliable, honest, commitment to excellent work. Strong work ethic and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks as required. Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred. QAL License (or desire to obtain one). Capacity to take on more tasks as time progresses. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Viticulturist. Interpret work orders – deliver chemicals to appropriate ranches as directed. Scouting. Collect petioles. Yield estimates. Sugar sampling. Virus testing/ soil sampling. Irrigation Monitoring (Pressure Bombs). Vine counts and vineyard data statistics. Data entry into AgCode. Maintain bird boxes and raptor perches. Frost monitoring. Help start crews with vineyard manager. Assist with harvest operations. Attend vineyard seminars and industry events. Other vineyard tasks as needed.
Pay is commensurate with experience.
