The Washington Library Association (WLA) is seeking a full-time Executive Director. WLA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a state chapter of the American Library Association. With a membership of over 1,200 individuals and 40 institutions, WLA provides the leadership needed to develop, improve, and promote library services to all Washington residents. The position is employed through Primary Source, an agency that works for libraries and library support organizations to provide training, events, strategic planning, operational management, and other projects and consultation. Working with a well-established and collaborative team, this position will be responsible for leading daily operations of WLA and implementing the policies and programs of the organization as established by WLA’s Board of Directors. Areas of responsibility include organizational governance, member management, financial management and sustainability, fundraising and grant-seeking, advocacy, and staff oversight. While this is primarily a remote position, attendance at periodic on-site meetings and events will be required. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher, and/or equivalent relevant job experience Current or imminent Washington State residency Experience with libraries or library associations Experience with grant writing and/or administration Direct administrative and/or leadership experience, ideally 3+ years Skilled use of MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint Skilled use of Google applications, such as Sheets, Forms, Calendar Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service Genuine appreciation for libraries Strong attention to detail Healthy sense of humor Preferred Qualifications Experience with association management software Experience with grant and/or fundraising software Compensation and Benefits $26-$30/hour DOE Employer-supplemented health insurance, including dental and vision Paid vacation, holiday, and sick time Primarily a remote position Periodic on-site meetings and events Company culture values work/life balance Small NE Seattle office with free parking, near multiple bus lines Office is open Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm; hours and start date are negotiable To Apply Please email your cover letter, resume or CV, and three references to The job posting will remain open until filled.
