POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Assistant plays a crucial role in the Accounting department by providing broad support in various financial and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a robust understanding of accounting principles. The Accounting Assistant will work closely with other members of the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial record-keeping.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable:
- Process and review invoices for accuracy and proper coding.
- Prepare and process payments to vendors and suppliers.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Generate and distribute customer invoices.
- Record and apply customer payments accurately.
- Assist in monitoring and following up on overdue accounts
- Assist in coding and posting of financial transactions.
- Assist with monthly reconciliations of bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records.
- Enter financial data into the company's accounting system.
- Maintain and update various spreadsheets and databases.
- File and organize financial documents and records.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports, statements, and summaries.
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting process.
- Respond to inquiries from vendors, customers, and internal staff regarding financial transactions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial information.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and accounting standards.
- Assist in preparing documentation for audits and financial reviews.
- Participate in special accounting projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned
- Complete any other ad hod tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration (with an emphasis in Accounting) required; high academic performer desired
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word); accounting software experience a plus
- Strong data entry skills with high accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Experience hours in this role will count towards CPA certification requirements.
- This role offers a potential 2-3 year track to a Staff Accountant position.
