Building upon the positive results and compelling data from our Phase 2b “X-TOLE” study in adult patients with focal epilepsy, our Phase 3 epilepsy program includes multiple clinical trials evaluating azetukalner in patients with focal onset seizures and primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. In 2024, we are planning to initiate a Phase 3 azetukalner program in major depressive disorder, based on topline data from our Phase 2 “X-NOVA” clinical trial. Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs
provides strategic input into medical affairs strategic planning. This individual will contribute clinical expertise to scientific communications strategy and execution, and medical education/disease state initiatives, opinion leader engagement and planning and conduct of advisory boards. This individual is expected to have skills to be able to contribute to highly complex medical and scientific content and tactics. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with internal partners on medical conference strategy, scientific content development, and supporting cross-functional teams including Clinical Development, Commercial, Corporate Affairs, and Market Access. The Senior Medical Director will have proven leadership ability in a fast-paced, multi-location environment and interact with all levels of internal staff, as well as external stakeholders. Reporting to the Vice President, Medical Affairs, this position will be ideally located in the Boston area, MA, USA. For Boston-based candidates, this role is a hybrid position, requiring a minimum of 2 days per week in the office. We will consider other jurisdictions for exceptional candidates. RESPONSIBILITIES: The subject matter expert will be responsible for providing clinical perspectives to inform Medical Affairs strategic planning. Responsible for acting as the subject matter expert in cross-functional strategic planning by providing clinical perspective and expertise. Contributes clinical expertise to the development of the scientific communications strategic and tactical plans, including scientific publications, and other scientific content, congress planning and advisory board planning. May act as scientific leader for several programs within an area. Engages with healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and perspectives. Represents Xenon Medical Affairs at medical congresses. Provides strategic input on HEOR and data generation dissemination planning and execution. Contributes to the HCP engagement and mapping process. Provides scientific and strategic input to the Phase IV planning and lifecycle management. Collaborates cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Commercial on strategic planning by providing clinical perspective and expertise. May act as scientific leader for several programs within an area. Drive Medical Affairs strategies and be a key internal contact/subject matter expert. Act in accordance with Company policies, including, for example, the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and ensure policies are understood and followed by direct reports, if any. Some international travel may be required. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: MD, or other recognized doctorate level education with supporting applicable health science background. A minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, with a strong medical or scientific background in epilepsy preferred. We will consider a combination of degrees and experience. Therapeutic experience in and knowledge of epilepsy required. Additional therapeutic experience in neurology and psychiatry is a plus. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, ability to build credibility and trust inside and outside the Company. Previous launch experience strongly preferred. Be science and data driven while at the same time, creative and flexible in strategic thinking and problem solving. Ability to travel up to 35-50%, both domestically and internationally. The base salary range for this role is
$303,000 to $349,800 USD ; we will consider above this range for exceptional candidates. Base salary is determined by a combination of factors including, but not limited to, education and other qualifications, years of relevant experience, and internal equity.
