Job Summary
We're looking for skilled and experienced Lead Cooks to produce and oversee food preparation and kitchen operations. We are searching for passionate individuals with strong cooking techniques who have a collaborative mindset, enjoy mentoring staff, and delivering exceptional culinary experiences for our campers. The successful candidates will prepare high-quality meals, be team-oriented, and have a commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Assist and supervise food preparation, ensuring beautiful presentation with a high-quality product. Oversee meal service guaranteeing timely and efficient delivery of the meal.
- Kitchen Management: Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and adherence to Georgia health and food safety standards. Ensure compliance with kosher dietary laws and regulations.
- Team Supervision: Lead and supervise support staff, providing guidance and fostering teamwork.
- Special Diets: Accommodate special dietary needs, allergies, and restrictions.
- Collaboration: Work with Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, and International Support Staff in a friendly, respectful manner promoting a positive working environment.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in camp activities, events, and trainings.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding camper and staff information.
- Adhere to camp policies, procedures, and Jewish traditions.
Requirements
- Culinary Experience: 3+ years of experience in large-scale food preparation.
- Physical Requirements: Able to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and frequently bend, stoop, and squat to access storage, equipment, and supplies.
- Food Safety Certification: Current food safety certification.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead kitchen staff.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary Degree: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts.
- Summer Camp Experience: Previous experience working in summer camps or similar environments.
