Program Description
This career track aligns with the skills possessed by many at-risk and low-wage workers who have a basic understanding of operating systems and computer applications, but need an industry-recognized certification to break into the field. Peirce College will allow you to earn college credits for the skills you already have that map to a new career in IT User Support and complete the training and credentials you still need to qualify for employment in this field. Students who complete the Cybersecurity track earn up to 19 stackable credits, including an undergraduate certificate, which applies directly to undergraduate degree programs at Peirce College. As a part of this program, students will prepare for the CompTIA Security+ exam, which validates the baseline skills necessary to perform core security functions and pursue an IT security career. It is widely considered by employers as the first security certification a candidate should earn as it establishes the core knowledge required of any cybersecurity role and provides a springboard to intermediate-level cybersecurity jobs. Peirce awards three credits for passing the Security+ Certification. Finally, Peirce counselors will connect you with employment opportunities in the region and help you apply for jobs, prepare for interviews, and leverage our alumni network.
This program covers the core knowledge required of any cybersecurity role and provides a springboard to intermediate-level cybersecurity jobs. The program incorporates best practices in hands-on troubleshooting to ensure candidates have the security problem-solving skills to assess the security posture of an enterprise, recommend and implement appropriate solutions, monitor and secure hybrid environments, including cloud, mobile, and IoT, operate with an awareness of applicable laws and policies, including principles of governance, risk and compliance, and identify, analyze and respond to security events and incidents.
