Job Description
SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager, performs vital tasks to maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the various city facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•Ability to work in the United States
•High school diploma or equivalent
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisory roles for this position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Cleaning: Daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces in various areas, including offices, restrooms, meeting rooms, common areas, and event centers.
•Maintenance: Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs and unclogging drains.
•Safety: Ensure the facility's security by locking and unlocking doors, setting alarms, and reporting any safety hazards.
•Event Support: Assist in setting up and arranging furniture and equipment for special events or meetings.
•Groundskeeping: Maintain the cleanliness of outdoor areas by picking up debris, sweeping walkways, and performing emergency cleanups.
EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE
•Previous experience in custodial/environmental services is preferred.
•Experience performing essential maintenance and repairs is preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge:
•Cleaning Procedures: Understanding various cleaning techniques and the proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
•Safety Protocols: Knowledge of safety standards and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
•Maintenance: Basic knowledge of building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, and carpentry.
Skills:
•Attention to detail: Noticing and addressing issues before they become more significant problems.
•Time Management: Efficiently managing time to complete assigned tasks within the given timeframe.
•Technical skills: Proficiency in using cleaning equipment and performing minor repairs.
Abilities:
•Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting/pushing/pulling heavy objects and standing for long periods.
•Problem-solving: Ability to identify issues and find practical solutions.
•Communication: Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues and report issues.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Physical activity typically involves moderate to strenuous activities such as lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs.), climbing ladders, standing and walking, bending and reaching, climbing, frequent use of hands and fingers, and repetitive movements.
WORK SCHEDULE:
The position will regularly be required to work 40 hours per week, with minimal evening or weekend work.

•Essential duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Work will be performed in various settings, including offices, restrooms, hallways, and the event center.
•Exposure to weather conditions is probable due to the required work outdoors.
•Exposure to cleaning chemicals as part of regular cleaning duties will require proper personal protective equipment.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Travel for the position is considered minimal. Although occasional travel may be required for training and to obtain supplies and equipment, most travel is local, within the Amarillo/Canyon area.
