DEFINITION:
Serves as administrator for data and reporting services and various applications across multiple cloud platforms. Assists in the development of procedures that ensure best practices around security and data privacy as they pertain to cloud solutions. Configures cloud environments that are required to host data and reporting services and applications to adhere to best practices and develop procedures to automate monitoring of that adherence. Guides the organization to make effective use of new features in cloud applications and data and reporting services as they are released. Performs other duties as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Serves as administrator for multiple applications, data and reporting services across multiple cloud platforms including, but not limited to, Power BI Reporting environment, SQL Managed Instance, Power Platform, Microsoft Fabric, Azure storage and data gateways, Microsoft 365 applications, Google Workspace and Oracle Fusion development environments. Participates in the development of procedures that ensure best practices and ensures the execution of best practices surrounding enterprise security and data privacy during the system integrations and solution development efforts undertaken by Enterprise Solutions teams. Works closely with Network Support and others to troubleshoot large scale technical incidents and to schedule updates and patches. Assists with notifications through Change Control procedures for updates, changes, and outages affecting enterprise solutions. Manages updates of required security certificates that support Single Sign-On and managed service access. Supports development teams in their creation of cloud-hosted automations and custom solutions. Plans and coordinates content migrations between on-prem and cloud environments and supports staff and engineering teams during implementation. Manages the configuration of safeguards and develops monitoring procedures that ensure safe and effective use of data reporting and automation tools, such as Power BI and Power Platform. Ensures schedule for Pro-Active Health checks, cloud maintenance, software maintenance, and upgrades for select in-house and third-party products, and on-prem systems. Systems include SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Azure SQL Managed instances, Microsoft Power Platform and Microsoft Cloud Databases. Manages cloud-based security through group and permission management in SQL Managed Instance, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace for Education and Oracle. Collaborates with Network Support on Microsoft Active Directory security group management as it relates to cloud applications. Participates in collaboration and automation solution development and system integration as needed. Coordinates and provides elevated end user support for all of the above systems. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Five years’ related experience with administration of Cloud Applications, Data and Reporting Services including but not limited to Power BI, Power Platform, and Microsoft SQL Managed Instance. Experience configuring cloud integrations such as Data Gateways, sFTP and cloud data storage preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with high stakes system administration of cloud platforms, application configuration and enterprise security. Microsoft broad-based generalist background with specialized, proven experience in SQL Server, Power BI, Power Platform and Dataverse. Excellent understanding of Microsoft PowerShell to create and leverage scripting to provide support with administration, reporting, change implementation, and monitoring. Experience administering the Google Admin Console in a large organization. Experience troubleshooting system errors. Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent Time Management, Communication and Organizational Skills.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The work of this class is sedentary and performed in an office environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Persons appointed to this classification are designated as
Essential-As-Needed Personnel
and are required to work when schools and/or offices are closed during adverse weather conditions or any other emergency when contacted and directed to do so.
GRADE:
Grade 08 on the BCPS OPE 12 Month payscale.
SALARY:
$89,766 - $141,552
OTHER COMPENSATION:
This position may also be eligible for comp time as per the OPE Master Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding.

RETIREMENT:
This position is eligible for the Baltimore County Employees’ Retirement System.

Pre-Employment Requirements:
All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment. Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US. If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214. Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via escript/clearinghouse from your university. Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing. All newly hired personnel
