About The Position Wellhart is partnering with a facility in Illinois to place a locum tenens Pathologist for a 21-day assignment starting June 5, 2025. The position requires weekday shifts with additional on-call responsibilities for night shifts and 24-hour coverage.
Start Date:
June 5, 2025 LOA : 21 days Schedule:
8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with on-call duties for nights and 24-hour coverage

Pathologist
Requirements: •Board Certification in Pathology •Strong experience in grossing, cytology, and general pathology case review •Ability to work independently and efficiently manage a caseload •Excellent communication skills
Duties: •Sign out pathology cases, ensuring accurate and timely diagnoses •Perform grossing on surgical specimens (with assistance from histotechs for small biopsies) •Answer clinician calls regarding pathology-related questions and concerns •Review and interpret peripheral blood smears as needed •Address blood bank issues, including transfusion reactions •Perform cellular adequacy checks for FNA and CT-guided biopsies •Provide night call coverage and respond to urgent cases Additional Information: •Two histotechs available to assist with grossing small biopsies, preparing slides, and conducting special stains •Responsible for managing blood bank issues and transfusion-related concerns •Must be available for on-call duties during nights and provide 24-hour coverage as needed
