We have an excellent opportunity for an accomplished Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Fremont, California. Our ideal candidate will design enclosures/chassis for up to very complex electromechanical systems according to design requests outlined by the application engineers and customer specifications. This includes 3D-model layouts, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, documentations, thermal and structural analysis. Generate presentations for customer review of assigned project. Provide technical guidance to less senior engineers. Responsibilities: Establish all necessary documents to manufacture and build requested products Responsible for correctness of the 3D-models, manufacturing drawings, BOMs and administrational work to release drawings Perform thermal and structural analysis Communications with sales, engineering, manufacturing staff and customers Provide technical guidance to less senior engineers Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of drafting standards Proficiency in 3D-CAD systems, preferably in One Space Designer Able to design with good design practice and proper tolerances for repeatability Experience in enclosure and sheet metal designs Good knowledge to be able to perform thermal and structural analysis Creativity and innovation Knowledge of MS Office (mainly Power Point for presentations) Able to work on assignments which require sound design and engineering knowledge Able to establish 3D-model layouts, assembly drawings (power point from 3D-model) and detailed manufacturing drawings using cost effective techniques that ensure compliance with cost and performance criteria Experience in enclosure and sheet metal designs Able to design enclosures that meet requirements of emerging packaging standards Perform thermal analysis using Flotherm analysis tool Perform structural analysis Being creative and innovative Able to work independently with little or no help from supervisor Willing to learn (e.g. new software, manufacturing processes, standards, etc.) Able to communicate with sales, engineering and manufacturing staff and customers Education/Experience: BSME or equivalent education/experience 3D-CAD systems training certificate Target Compensation: $130k to $145k plus bonus Elma offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and benefits package.
