In the Americas region, HI-LEX has grown steadily in the region, and now has ten (10) manufacturing facilities across the the United States, Mexico, and Brazil. In the U.S., HI-LEX operates under three divisions: HI-LEX America in Battle Creek, Michigan; HI-LEX Controls in Hudson, Litchfield, and Hazel Park, Michigan; and Daedong HI-LEX of America in Cusseta, Alabama. The company’s automotive center is in Rochester Hills, Michigan which consists of finance, sales, engineering, testing, and program management, and will serve as the location for the HR Coordinator.
Position Summary
The HR Coordinator supports the Corporate HR team by assisting with various human resources functions, including recruitment, data management and compliance tasks. This role also handles payroll coordination for hourly associates for our Hazel Park - Michigan plant location, ensuring accurate and timely processing. Additionally, the HR Coordinator serves as a reliable back-up to corporate HR staff, helping to maintain smooth operations across multiple aspects of the HR function.
Key Roles And Responsibilities
- Recruitment Support: Work closely with Corporate HR to support recruitment efforts; including reviewing resumes, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, assisting in the hiring and on-boarding process.
- Immigration/Visa Processing : Support immigration-related tasks, including documentation for work authorization with legal counsel as needed
- Employee Engagement & Activities : Assist in planning and executing employee events to foster a positive workplace culture.
- HRIS Management: Maintain and audit employee records in the HRIS system as needed to ensure accuracy, data integration, and timely updates across employee lifecycle events.
- Payroll Processing: Responsible for processing weekly payroll for hourly employees for the Hazel Park - Michigan plant location. Also serve as a back-up for corporate salary payroll processing during absence or peak periods.
- Office & Facility Support: Order and manage office supplies for the Hazel Park-Michigan facility and act as a backup for facility management coordination (e.g., maintenance requests, vendor communications)
- Unemployment Insurance Agency Correspondence : Respond to unemployment claims and coordinate with third party providers to ensure timely and accurate information is submitted.
- Employee Surveys: Coordinate and administer employee surveys, gather and analyze feedback.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources in required
Functional Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in a human resources function is preferred
- Knowledge of HR laws and regulations
- Payroll experience is preferred but not requied
- Attention to details

- HR knowledge in compliance
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Computer literacy with capability in email, MS office and related HR software.
- The position requires a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Office environment with noise from computer
- Sometimes lifts, carries or moves objects - up to 25 pounds.
- Travel : 10 percent to local plants
