This role serves as a lead for site compliance with Title V, MON MACT, RMP, and other air related regulatory requirements, including the lead resource to the site's new Title V permit. The candidate will lead data gathering and compliance report submittals. This role will support sustainability efforts for the site and have oversight of other critical duties such as RCMS auditor and MOC System Coordinator.
The Environmental Engineer for the Jefferson Hills Site supports the SHES Department by managing assigned environmental programs as the subject matter expert. The Environmental Coordinator will work with the other members of the SHES team and will report to the site’s SHES Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the site’s technical expertise in environmental regulations with a focus on air quality
- Interact and work with operations, maintenance, engineering and plant management to maintain environmental compliance. Train operations and maintenance personnel on environmental responsibilities
- Monitor site performance against permit and other regulatory requirements and identify improvement opportunities
- Coordinate emissions testing at the site’s operating units
- Prepare compliance certifications and shutdown/breakdown reports
- Interface with regulatory agencies regarding permitting and compliance
- Manage the facility’s LDAR program
- Review capital projects to determine regulatory impacts. Assist in design and selection of air pollution control technology for new or modified equipment.
- Represent the Jefferson Site during corporate audits and government inspections
- Evaluate and perform air emissions calculation estimates
- Prepare, review and update environmental metrics and reports
- Lead and participate in the development and improvement of the sites SHES Management System.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering or science discipline
- 5 years’ experience required. Experience in chemical industry is preferred.
- Familiarity with Federal and State air quality regulations. Experience with Allegheny County Health Department regulations is preferred.
- Availability for off-hours calls/consultations.
- Familiarity with Process & Instrumentation Diagrams.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, influence others and coordinate with others to ensure objectives are met.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well with both hourly (union) and management employees.
- Proficiency with standard software packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and SAP.
