The Granite State Education Corps (GSEC) engages AmeriCorps members in serving youth in grades 4-12 across New Hampshire. Many of these youth have experienced trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), which can impact their long-term success, health, and functioning. GSEC aims to counteract these effects by fostering stability and positive relationships through mentorship. AmeriCorps members meet regularly with small groups or individual students to build resilience, social and emotional skills, and self-sufficiency, serving the 'whole child.'
Members are placed at various host sites across the state, including college towns like Durham and Keene, rural Windsor, and urban Manchester. Summer placements include organizations such as Breakthrough Manchester and Upward Bound UNH. Positions are full-time but considered minimum- or quarter-time.

Member Duties: Members serve as mentors to small groups during summer programming, engaging in youth development activities that may include academic support, experiential learning, social and emotional skill-building, aspirations, and therapeutic interventions.
