POSITION SUMMARY
As a Lead Medical Technologist, you will leverage your extensive procedural expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and leadership skills to perform crucial clinical laboratory analyses and examinations, ultimately delivering high-quality diagnostic services.
Canton-Potsdam Hospital is a dedicated, non-profit community healthcare organization with a capacity of 94 beds. Our mission revolves around providing excellent health care services to our community through a wide range of programs in emergency care, acute care, hospitalist medicine, and critical care. 7.5 Hour Days QUALIFICATIONS Required:
At least six (6) years of experience as a medical technologist
Preferred:
Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a laboratory setting
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field (Biology, Chemistry, or Physical Sciences) and/or equivalent relevant experience recognized by the New York State Department of Education for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Required:
New York State Department of Education License or Limited Permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Preferred:
Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
Compliance with New York State Department of Health requirements for laboratory supervision during weekends and holidays, if applicable.
Must possess a valid New York State driver’s license if travel is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Laboratory Management:
Conduct specialized and complex diagnostic procedures, prepare reagents, manage laboratory supplies, interpret clinical test results in the context of patient history and clinical conditions, ensure effective communication of critical lab results, and execute quality control along with routine and advanced maintenance of laboratory instruments. Technical Expertise:
Maintain competency in the necessary computer functions for testing and workflow management; may engage in research and development of new technologies and provide written evaluations to the supervisor. Leadership Development:
Train new and existing employees on procedures and equipment; serve as a technical resource for technologists, technicians, and students in rotation; contribute to the education in the School of Medical Technology as needed. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position involves medium work which includes exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Frequent walking, standing, and squatting are required. Pay Range:
$41.75 - $47.00 Canton Potsdam Hospital, 50 Leroy St, Potsdam, NY 13676 The stated pay range is a good faith representation of potential base pay for a qualified full-time candidate and may be adjusted based on experience, qualifications, specialty, internal equity, and location.
