Who We Are
The Thriving Initiative is a 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on creating safe, accessible, and effective programs to help survivors of sexual assault, stalking, and domestic violence heal from trauma. Serving college campuses like UC Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara City College, we’re a passionate, close-knit team dedicated to making a meaningful impact. Our hybrid workplace offers flexibility, collaboration, and a chance to support survivors in transformative ways.
Who We’re Looking For
A highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to support our operations, events, and team for 15 to 24 hours a week. Ideal candidates will have 1 or more years of administrative experience, strong communication skills, high integrity, and a passion for supporting survivors of interpersonal violence. Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and CRM systems is preferred, as well as a proactive approach to balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Beyond working with a highly motivated team, benefits include a flexible schedule, paid time off, and an opportunity to make a tangible impact.
This position is primarily remote with some in-person requirements in either Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties or San Diego County. A strong commitment to confidentiality, cultural awareness, and the mission of The Thriving Initiative is essential.
What You’ll Do
- Data & Administrative Support: Maintain databases, update records, generate reports, and assist the Executive Director and Program Manager with scheduling, document organization, and correspondence. Develop and maintain SOPs to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Communications & Volunteer Engagement: Manage contact lists, handle some internal and external communications, track volunteer hours, maintain directories, and help coordinate recognition efforts. Document processes and best practices to improve volunteer management and communications.
- Event & Project Coordination: Support planning and logistics for events, meetings, and trainings, including materials preparation, guest coordination, and on-site or virtual assistance. Collaborate with the team to execute special projects.
