Job Description

Performs all types of tree maintenance work as required; operates heavy motor equipment; performs manual tasks related to tree maintenance; and performs related work as required.

This is heavy work requiring exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly. Work involves climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions. Communication and sensory requirements include speaking, hearing, and visual acuity. The work is performed outdoors, often near moving mechanical parts, in wet/humid conditions, vibration, and high places.

Essential Functions and Tasks

• Perform all types of tree maintenance, including stump grinding, trimming, and removal.
• Operate equipment such as bucket trucks, loaders, chippers, stump cutters, tractors, trucks, and snow/ice equipment.
• Work overtime during emergencies or after storm damage.
• Supervise crew members and assist in training.
• Ensure safety standards are met and complete work reports.
• Perform or assist with skilled trade jobs as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum five (5) years’ experience in forestry, with thorough knowledge of heavy equipment and tree maintenance procedures. Knowledge of heavy equipment repair is a plus. Ability to operate multi-purpose equipment under all weather conditions, establish effective working relationships, be dependable, and work overtime during emergencies.

Requirements

Experience in arboriculture, valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement, and a good driving record are required. Certified Arborist certification is a plus. Subject to drug and alcohol testing.
