Were seeking a motivated Director to lead our After School Program during the 2025-2026 school year at Sunderland Elementary School in Sunderland, VT. As the Director, you will be the key leader responsible for overseeing all operations of the Healthy Kids Program Site.
JOB STATUS: Part-Time, Non-Exempt PAY: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensuring Compliance: Oversee that staff and program activities comply with state regulations, Healthy Kids policies, and the host schools requirements. Creating Engagement: Lead fun, hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, which includes fitness, STEAM, academics, arts, and more. Plus, support children with homework, becoming the ultimate homework champion! Managing Operations: Handle critical management duties such as keeping accurate attendance and registration records and ensuring adequate staffing to keep the program functioning efficiently. Maintaining Communication: Keep open communication lines with parents and families through the Playground App to share updates and stay connected. Team Coordination: Regularly communicate with your direct report to keep them informed about daily activities and quickly address any concerns. Working as a unified team, well maintain a positive environment, deliver excellent care, and proactively solve challenges.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
To qualify as Director, candidates must:
Be at least 18 years old and hold a BA, BS, or Associates degree, and meet one of the following:
Have a minimum of ten months experience working directly with school-age children, OR
Possess a Vermont On-the-Job Training certificate, OR
Hold a Vermont Afterschool Professional Credential, OR
Hold a Vermont Program Director Credential, OR
Hold Vermont Teacher Licensure, OR
Have a Masters Degree in a youth-related field.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Medical clearance from a healthcare provider confirming fitness for the role and free of communicable diseases, including TB. Friendly, warm, and positive with strong interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, parents, and team members. Dependable, professional, and punctual. Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs., and prepared to keep pace with energetic children.
