Job Summary: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide essential nursing care to inmates/residents within a correctional healthcare setting. Responsibilities include implementing physician orders, administering medication, assisting in medical treatments, maintaining records, and ensuring the safety and sanitation of the medical unit. This role requires the ability to handle a fast-paced, secure environment with professionalism and clinical competence. Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct nursing care and follow physician instructions in the care and treatment of inmates/residents. Administer medications via pill call and document per policy. Assist physicians during examinations and medical procedures. Perform emergency procedures and maintain medical equipment. Monitor inventory of medications and medical supplies. Observe and document inmate/resident behavior and medical conditions. Ensure security of the medical unit and compliance with safety standards. Support medical investigations, legal responses, and audits as necessary. Escort inmates for medical care and respond to emergencies. Maintain confidentiality of all medical records and patient information. Required Skills & Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited LPN program. Active
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
in the
state of Tennessee . Valid Driver's License. Proficiency in English - Speak, Read, Write. Strong communication, organizational, and emergency response skills. Ability to work in a correctional facility setting, including exposure to stressful situations and confined spaces. Physical ability to perform rescue functions and maintain security protocols. Preferred Experience:
Prior correctional facility, long-term care, or clinical healthcare experience. Knowledge of NCCHC/ACA/JCAHO standards. Familiarity with pharmacy regulations and formulary compliance. Additional Information:
