Position Summary
The main duties and responsibilities of the GIS Technician are to assist in cartographic, analytical, and statistical processes using GIS software and techniques within a team environment under the direct supervision of the assigned Team Lead. The ideal candidate will work alone or as a team on GIS geoprocessing, data collection interpretation and conversions, and data editing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1-3 years of professional experience in GIS
Spatial analysis and cartographic presentations and other representations of data
Data compilation and entry to create, maintain, convert, display, and update GIS GDB feature classes and metadata
Assist with data gathering and compilation, GPS, mapping, and basic data analysis
Visual analysis or map queries to locate features, resolve conflicting information, and ensure data accuracy
Recording and documenting details of map updates and additions/deletions
Documenting and applying standard operating procedures for data processes and QA/QC
Bachelors in GIS, Geography, or Computer Science, or GIS Certificate or Associate degree with related work experience
High attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
Basic level of Esri ArcGIS capabilities and technical solutions
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
Desired Skills and Abilities
Creation of web-based applications or solutions
GIS database structure, design, schemas, and queries
Versioned Enterprise Geodatabase editing experience
Familiarity with electric, gas, or water utilities
Familiarity with Python, SQL, FME, AutoCAD, or PLS-CADD
Familiarity with ArcGIS Online, Enterprise, and Enterprise Geodatabases
