12 hr shifts. Report is at the bedside. OT and extra shifts are available. Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it. Schedules are out 4 weeks. Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff. Unit: ED# bed: 14 bed with 4 fast track included.No triage for agency RNsBHU (Behavioral Health Unit: Tandy Burton) mental health nurses see the mental health patientsCerts: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSSRatios: 1:4EMR: CernerCharge Nurse: Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.Nurse Aides: Yes as census and staffing dictatesScrubs Color: Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy.Tele: Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.Vents: Not commonHospitalist or Intensivist in house: YesIV Team: NoRT 24/7: YesPharmacy 24/7: YesFloating: All other Sacramento facilities. Mid-shift float to another facility is rare, but can happen.Floor specific orientation: 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.Common diagnosis / Types of patients: CP r/o MI, exacerbation of chronic diseases, psych holds. Modules take on average 3-4 hours to complete-this time is not billable to the hospital.For Holiday RTO: Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years). Unit managers will make the final call on scheduling.
