Our mission is to inspire and engage through science discovery and learning in ways that advance equity and opportunity.Application Review DateThe First Review Date for this job is: 10/10/2024ResponsibilitiesCoordinate science center facilitation staff and volunteers, prepare the daily schedule, support materials management, model and provide coaching on best practices, and ensure that LHS visitors' overall experience is educational, engaging, welcoming, and positive.Present programs to visitors, conduct special events, and lead educational programs.Contribute to/or lead development of new programs, develop and produce written educational materials, and prepare professional learning materials to assist staff and volunteers facilitate programs.20% - Coach Floor facilitators and volunteer staff on maintaining positive customer interactions.20% - Administrative responsibilities including onboarding and training floor program facilitators and volunteers, and materials management and ordering.10% - In collaboration with Associate Director and Floor Coordinator, provide new hire onboarding to floor facilitators.10% - Facilitate floor programs, guided programs, and learning lab programs. Adjust facilitation to meet the needs of specific groups.5% - Document feedback and make recommendations for improvements.5% - Oversee and assist the floor team in maintaining program standards.5% - Communicate with Production Studio to get exhibits repaired or replaced when damaged.5% - Assist with development of new materials, exhibit experiences, learning lab programs, and guided programs.5% - Set up exhibit and learning lab spaces and activities.5% - Prepare educational materials for use in both guided and facilitated education programs for all audiences.Required QualificationsExcellent multitasking abilities, flexibility, decision making skills, and leadership skills.Provide excellent customer service to visitors, volunteers, and colleagues.Working knowledge of departmental and organization policies and procedures; knowledge of educational program content and objectives.Good analytical skills to understand how business needs can be addressed through the design and delivery of training programs.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong public speaking ability.Ability to engage diverse learners and foster a culture of trust and collaboration.EDUCATIONBachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.Preferred QualificationsAnimal handling experience.CPR First Aid Certification.Salary & BenefitsThis is a 12-month, full-time (40 hours/week), contract appointment, eligible for full UC benefits. This is a non-exempt, hourly paid position.The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is
