Job Description: As a Staff Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of financial records and supporting the overall financial operations of the company. You will collaborate with various departments to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and assist in budgeting and forecasting processes. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of a dynamic retail organization.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of cash transactions.
  • Support the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations to auditors.
  • Analyze financial data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Assist with sales tax filings and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information.
  • Adhere to internal controls and company policies to safeguard company assets and maintain compliance.

Qualifications of the Staff Accountant:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA certification or progress towards CPA preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a retail or similar industry.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
