JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Summary of the Job:
Responsible for the performance of all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures available through the Department with complete understanding of the equipment, supplies, indications, and contraindications for use, and physiological effects upon the patient.

Minimum Qualifications:

Successful completion of a polysomnography program associated with a state license and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency of all competencies. No prior experience is needed!

Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (www.brpt.org) and current license with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist, ORcurrent temporary permit for Polysomnography Technician with Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners, ORCurrent license with the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a Licensed Respiratory Therapist (must be a Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist) and have a the Sleep Disorders Certification (www.nbrc.org) or obtain Sleep Disorder certification within 6 months of hire.

Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.

Physical Demands:
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
Physical Effort required:
Constant (67%-100%) - talking, hearing and seeing
Frequently (34%-66%) - stooping, crouching, reaching, and handling/feeling
Occasionally (1%-33%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), and balancing
