Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Insurance Defense Attorney to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in insurance defense litigation, including handling cases involving personal injury, property damage, and other liability claims. The attorney will be responsible for representing clients in complex litigation matters, providing legal advice, and negotiating settlements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Litigation Management: Handle all aspects of insurance defense litigation, including case investigation, legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery documents, and conducting depositions.
  • Court Representation: Represent clients in court during trials, hearings, and mediations, presenting arguments and evidence in defense of insurance claims.
  • Client Consultation: Advise clients on legal issues related to insurance claims, including risk management strategies, potential liabilities, and case outcomes.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients with claimants and their attorneys, ensuring favorable outcomes while minimizing legal expenses.
  • Case Strategy: Develop and implement effective defense strategies tailored to each case, taking into account the specifics of the claim, applicable laws, and client objectives.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all legal actions comply with relevant laws and regulations, including insurance and contractual obligations.
  • Documentation: Maintain thorough and accurate case files, including all correspondence, legal documents, and case notes.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys within the firm to coordinate case management and ensure comprehensive defense.
  • Continuing Education: Stay updated on changes in insurance law and defense strategies through continuing legal education and professional development.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensure: Active license to practice law in [State], in good standing with the state bar.
  • Experience: 3-7 years of experience in insurance defense litigation, with a strong track record of successful case outcomes.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in legal research and use of legal databases.
    • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in handling complex cases involving multiple parties and significant damages.
  • Familiarity with local court procedures and practices.
  • Prior experience in a law firm specializing in insurance defense.

Work Environment:
This position is primarily office-based, with regular travel required to courtrooms, client meetings, and depositions.
