Public Service Loan Forgiveness ProgramAbout The Work Unit:The Office of Public Health Practice, Planning and Local Partnerships promotes state and local governmental public health agencies functioning as a seamless system, working in partnership to improve health outcomes. The Office is guided by the 2008 Public Health Act and coordinates with department leadership to focus on the functions of:Partnerships: Assuring strategic partnerships between the state and local public health agencies to meet mutual goals;Assessment and Planning: Developing and implementing assessment and planning systems in accordance with best practices and the Act, toward systems improvements and better health outcomes;Practice: Facilitating a trained public health workforce to cover all counties, promoting practice competencies, training and innovation.What You Will Be Doing:This position exists to provide vision, leadership and direction to The Office of Public Health Practice, Planning and Local Partnerships. The position directs the office to lead statewide public and environmental health systems improvement efforts, ensuring strong connections between CDPHE and LPHAs, Tribal health authorities, the Colorado School of Public Health and other partnering public health organizations. The primary functions of this position include:Assuring a strong partnership function with effective communication systems and staff in a liaison role to facilitate successful relationships between CDPHE and 54 local public health agencies and 2 Tribal health authorities.Providing oversight and direction for Colorado’s assessment and planning system, assuring the development and implementation of Colorado's Statewide Public Health Improvement Plan in accordance with the 2009 Act and facilitating technical assistance to LPHA’s in the areas of assessment and planning.Providing vision for collaborative efforts to continue to build and modernize Colorado’s public health system, by using nationally recognized performance standards and innovations in public health practice.Executing CDPHE’s executive leadership’s vision and direction for Colorado's state and local public health partnerships.This role was developed for a visionary leader with a broad understanding of public health innovation models, public health practice and the core functions of assessment and planning. The position has oversight of a team and management responsibilities to assure office activities are effective. The position serves as a member of the department’s leadership team and is an advisor to the department’s Executive Director and Chief Medical Officer.An applicant may meet the minimum qualifications for this job in one of two ways: They may qualify through their work experience alone or through a combination of education and work experience.Option 1: ExperienceTen (10) years of full time professional experience in public health program management including strategic planning and outreach, grant writing, policy development, and supervision and performance management of professional staff, two of which must have included experience with public or business administration, establishing goals and objectives, as well as developing and managing a budget to achieve program goals and objectives.Option 2: Combination of Education and ExperienceA combination of education from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, or Public Health

AND

full time professional experience in public health program management including strategic planning and outreach, grant writing, policy development, and supervision and performance management of professional staff, two of which must have included experience with public or business administration, establishing goals and objectives, as well as developing and managing a budget to achieve program goals and objectives equal to ten (10) years.This experience must be substantiated within the Work Experience section of your application.
