Job SummaryThe Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) administration is seeking a highly motivated Pharmacist Senior to lead a team committed to improving patient healthcare. This position is a great opportunity for a creative and assertive individual to work at a high level of independence applying innovative solutions within a complex public mental health care system.

Job duties include:

Oversee pharmaceutical care services provided by SPRTC Pharmacy staff to ensure the pharmaceutical needs of the patients are met.

Oversee and ensure that the process for dispensing medications from the pharmacy meets all legal and accreditation/certification requirements, and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards for the facility.

Supervise and work alongside eleven (hopefully, soon to be 12) staff pharmacists, a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, and five pharmacy technicians, plus the PGY2 Pharmacy Resident and Pharm.D. students.

Manage an annual budget of approximately $2.5 million for drugs, supplies.

Attend Medical Staff meetings, Pharmacy & Therapeutic Committee meetings, department leadership meetings, and serve on project committees as needed.

Conduct facility or DCT process improvement projects.

Serve as a consultant to medical providers, psychiatric providers, and nursing staff to provide the most current information regarding drug therapies.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.

Licensure or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in Minnesota.

Two years of experience as a pharmacist in a hospital setting or completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency.

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience providing pharmacy services for individuals with mental illness, chemical dependency, and related or co-occurring diagnoses.

Completion of a PGY2 Pharmacy Residency in Psychiatric Pharmacy

Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist.

A working knowledge of JCAHO, State and Federal Pharmacy regulations.

Experience as a Pharmacy Manager

MBA, or experience managing a budget

Proficient in data collection, entry, evaluation and Excel spreadsheet experience or other equivalent programs.

Experience working on multidisciplinary teams

Quality improvement training or experience.
