PRIMARY FUNCTION AND RELATIONSHIP TO TOTAL ORGANIZATION

Responsible for the promotional operations at all ORU athletic events, including scripts, contests, and fan fulfillment. Supervise student workers by scheduling and assigning duties. Responsible for all athletic department campus publicity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and adhere to applicable NCAA, Conference, University, and departmental rules and regulations. Upon notification of any NCAA violation, report the violation to the Assistant Athletic Director/Compliance or Director of Athletics and follow applicable procedures for reporting and investigating a violation with the NCAA.

Responsible for all scripts for ORU athletic events. Provide copies of scripts to all relevant event personnel and be in attendance at the event to ensure that the script is followed. Communicate directly with the cheerleading and band staff to coordinate time out allotments.

Responsible for creating and implementing all promotional contests. This includes creating a fan sign-up area, contacting contestants and fulfilling winners.

Responsible for staffing the contests with student workers, purchasing contest props and obtaining prizes.

Responsible for the recruitment, training, and supervision of student workers. Assist in determining amount of scholarship award, schedules, assigned office hours and game day duties.

Responsible for generating publicity and enthusiasm for ORU athletic events in the campus community. This includes marquee signage, campus flyers and announcements, cafeteria table tents and banners, “Dorm Storm” flyers, athlete appearances, and special student events.

Responsible for oversight of staff to schedule community promotions and game promotions, including halftime acts, special ticket promotions, and other projects to build awareness of ORU athletic events.

Responsible for creating sports program themes and work with the graphic artist on all schedule cards and schedule posters utilizing program themes.

Assist with the coordination and management of scheduling community events and appearances by athletes and staff with the goal of building visibility in the community.

Perform additional duties as assigned by Senior Staff Members or the Athletic Director.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent knowledge and experience.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

Two to four years of related experience is preferred.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint is preferred.

Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Ability to make independent decisions and judgments on administrative and procedural issues.
