Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights, Every Other Weekend; First to Float Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor & Delivery License: Required Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certificate Must-Have: C-section experience (scrub, recovery, and circulate), experience in Mother-baby/Postpartum units Job Description: - Work in a Labor & Delivery unit with 10 beds and 2 operating rooms.- Manage 2 triage beds and 18 postpartum beds.- Handle approximately 130 births per month.- Maintain patient ratios of 1:1 close to delivery, 1:2 otherwise, and 1:4 for couplets on postpartum.- Utilize Obix fetal monitoring and Cerner EMR systems.- Collaborate with a charge nurse shared between Labor & Delivery and Postpartum.- Work alongside scrub techs in Labor & Delivery (no nurse aides/OB techs otherwise).- Fulfill weekend requirements by working 4 shifts in a 4-week period.- No on-call requirements.- Work during holidays, requiring 1 major and 1 minor holiday commitment.- Use provided scrub color for dress code.- No telemetry or ventilators on the unit; patients will be transferred out if needed.- Currently working toward having an OB/Neonatologist in-house.- Collaborate with a 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy team.- Float primarily between Labor & Delivery and Postpartum; do not work interchangeably unless NICU experience is present.- Complete floor-specific orientation over 3 shifts.- Work with patients delivering as early as 23 weeks and some high-risk cases.- Handle common diagnoses such as Antepartum and Hypertension; plan to transfer out patients with known cardiac abnormalities.- Access to perinatology support is available.- Hospital may cancel up to three times per contract, including full or partial shift cancellation, with the option of compensating full hours.- Engage in a team environment to meet the highest standards of patient care and support within the acute care setting. Note: Orientation involves 12 hours, and the position requires flexibility to float primarily to Postpartum unless specifically experienced with NICU cases.
