Procurement Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Procurement Specialist to join our construction team in Greenwood Village, Colorado. The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, and services necessary for construction projects. This role will work closely with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of high-quality goods while optimizing costs and maintaining project timelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction materials, vendor management, and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Purchasing
    Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and subcontractors for construction materials, equipment, and services.

  • Negotiation
    Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to secure the best deals and terms while maintaining quality and adherence to project specifications.

  • Vendor Management
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors, managing performance, resolving issues, and ensuring timely deliveries.

  • Inventory and Cost Management
    Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with site teams to ensure optimal stock levels, avoiding project delays. Track procurement costs and align with budgetary constraints.

  • Purchase Orders
    Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy in order details, quantities, and delivery schedules.

  • Project Coordination
    Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure materials and equipment are available according to project schedules.

  • Compliance
    Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and environmental and safety standards.

  • Documentation and Reporting
    Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and vendor agreements. Prepare procurement reports and analyses to support project and financial management.

  • Process Improvement
    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to streamline procurement processes, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.

Qualifications:

  • Experience
    Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably within the construction industry.

  • Technical Skills
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with procurement or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Procore).

  • Knowledge
    Strong understanding of construction materials, equipment, and industry-specific procurement processes. Familiarity with contract negotiation, vendor management, and project budgeting.

  • Communication Skills
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.

  • Analytical Skills
    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail in pricing, contracts, and material specifications.

  • Time Management
    Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Construction Experience
    Previous experience in construction procurement, particularly with large-scale projects, is highly desirable.

  • Certification
    Professional certifications such as Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP) are a plus.

  • Industry Knowledge
    Familiarity with construction safety standards, building codes, and sustainable sourcing practices.
