WEST Jefferson vacancies in this Department as they occur.Under the general direction of a Recreation Zone Manager, this employee is responsible for providing supervision and direction over all activities and staff at a recreation center. Employee supervises and manages the overall operations of a recreation center and surrounding grounds. Directs and coordinates the work of immediate subordinates, each of whom is responsible for specific functions - building and grounds maintenance, athletic programs, free play use of the center, etc. Evaluates facility in terms of needed supplies, equipment, and personnel. Employee is responsible for providing a budget based on the pre-determined funding available for the year and for tracking expenditures and operating facility within the budget limits. Schedules, coordinates and supervises athletic and many intramural programs. Performs various supervisory duties to include: assigning, instructing, and reviewing work of subordinates, to include evaluating assigned subordinates to assure quality levels are maintained in all areas. Performs related duties as required. Employee will be required to work a flexible schedule which may include working on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.Must meet

of the following three options:Current employment and permanent civil service status with Jefferson Parish and at least one (1) year of full-time experience (or two (2) years of part-time experience) working in the Department of Parks & Recreation at or above the level of Recreation Center Supervisor, Assistant.Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent; plus, two (2) years of paid, verifiable work experience at a park or recreation facility, indicating ability to oversee daily playground activities (e.g., athletics and/or maintenance), with at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Recreation or Physical Education. Proof of qualifying education is required.Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (Louisiana R.S. 15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application.Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate.(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)Rating of Training and Experience weighted 100%.
