EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR. Under general direction, the purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive management of the Parish's Public Works warehouse activities.

The employee in this classification manages and directs the ordering, receiving, and distributing of supplies, materials, parts, and/or equipment.

The employee in this position ensures maintenance of orderly and safe warehouses through subordinate supervisory and warehouse personnel.

Perform administrative and managerial duties to maintain and manage assigned staff which involves instructing, assigning, and reviewing activities, maintaining standards through the effective coordination of activities and handling various personnel related issues. Prepare annual warehouse operations budget; monitor adherence to established budgetary parameters. Performs related duties as required. This position is an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or their designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish.

Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.Extensive (approx. five years), paid work experience in a supervisory capacity in a large warehouse or comparable facility. Experience must include inventory management, including conducting physical counts, overseeing receipt of goods, setting safety stock levels, preparing orders, maintaining inventory records, and managing material storage and distribution.

Related education, experience, and/or professional certification(s) above and beyond the minimum qualifications will be required for consideration of an entrance salary above the minimum rate. (ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL)

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof.
