Job Summary/BasicFunction:Develops and manages faculty development support programs, consulting oneffective and strategies for student and faculty success, such asinclusive mentoring practices.Department Overview:In 2020, the Institute for Inclusive & Transformative Scholarship(IFITS) was approved by the Idaho State Board of Education. It evolvedout of the Institute for STEM & Diversity Initiatives, with the visionof creating and nurturing a vibrant, inclusive community, where all areactively engaged in the scholarly life of the university and the region.IFITS staff are a small but mighty team that serves undergraduatestudents, graduate students, faculty, and our community in order toincrease access to and accelerate impacts from transformativescholarship. IFITS works extensively with many other university officesto collaboratively achieve our goals. IFITS leads the VIP program, theASSERT program, and consults with faculty from across campus on theirscholarly initiatives. The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) liveswithin IFITS and works to engage all undergraduates in the scholarlylife of the university. We do this through programming (e.g. SummerResearch Community), cohort programs (e.g. LSAMP and Bridge to theBaccalaureate), and through grants and paid research experiences (e.g.HERC Fellowship, URCA grant). OUR also offers workshops and mentorshiptraining to support faculty and researchers, and hosts several largeevents for undergraduate researchers to present their work.Level Scope:Recognized master in professional discipline with significant impact andinfluence on campus policy and program development. Establishes criticalstrategic and operational goals; develops and implements new products,processes, standards or operational plans to achieve strategies.Regularly leads projects of critical importance to the campus; theseprojects carry substantial consequences of success or failure. Requiressignificant influence and communication with executive leadership.Problems faced are frequently complex and multidimensional, requiringbroad based consideration of variables that impact multiple areas of theorganization.Essential Functions:Responsibilities includeFaculty Consultations:

Analyze individual faculty needs, andprovide support around inclusive mentoring, transformativescholarship, and grant writing.Developing and Facilitating Workshops:

This includescollaborating with other IFITS team members and, when appropriate,with staff from other units, to build relationships and identifydevelopment opportunities. Examples include workshops on inclusivementoring and other high impact academic success initiatives.Lead Professional Development for the VIP program:

Provideleadership for professional development initiatives for faculty andgraduate students involved in the Vertically Integrated Projects(VIP) program.Participate in Grant Program Leadership:

Serve on planning andleadership teams for relevant STEM education grant programs, both oncampus and statewide.Be a Thought Partner:

Work with the Executive Director of IFITSon strategic initiatives and vision for the office.Perform other duties

as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:Evidence of:Consultation and Faculty Support:

Effective consultation skills foradvising and guiding faculty and staff. Examples include supportingfaculty to engage in inclusive mentoring practices and achieve equitableacademic outcomes, and supporting faculty in their grants that supportstudent access and success.Professional Development Facilitation Expertise:

Ability to designand deliver professional deve opment opportunities in various formatstailored to academic audiences. Examples could include workshops oninclusive mentoring and other academic success initiatives.Expertise in Effective Mentoring:

Knowledge of effective mentoringstrategies with the ability to apply these ideas across various academicdisciplines.Literature and Research Application:

Ability to leverage literatureon effective mentoring and faculty research development to informprofessional practices.Relationship Building:

Ability to build and manage constructiverelationships with faculty, instructional staff, and other campusstakeholders.Communication Skills:

Strong verbal, written, and visualcommunication skills.Service Orientation:

Strong service mindset with skills in aiding abroad range of stakeholders.Relevant Professional Experience:STEM Education:

Experience in a STEM educational discipline.Understanding Faculty and Student Needs:

Experience in understandingand addressing the needs of faculty and students to support theirsuccess.
