Durr Heavy Construction is a woman-owned construction company based in Southeast Louisiana specializing in site preparation, demolition, underground utilities, paving, composite construction, and disaster recovery.

Position Overview :

The Project Development Manager plays a crucial role in the pre-construction team, responsible for developing new client contacts, maintaining existing relationships, identifying new project opportunities, and acquiring new projects. Reporting to the COO, this high-impact role drives business development efforts, helping to expand market presence and enhance the company’s long-term growth.

Responsibilities:

Develops, Plans, and Implements the Company's Market Development Program:

Responsible for continued sustainability and growth in the market, including markets previously not serviced.

Ensures target client base fully understands the company’s desires and capabilities.

Facilitates positive interaction between the company’s team and the clients’ teams.

Establishes, plans, and sets objectives and goals that support overall business strategy/results.

Works closely with both the Executive and Project Management teams, keeping them abreast of opportunities and threats.

Expands and improves CRM and related sales support systems.

Maintains CRM contact databases with relevant information and market intelligence.

Identifies market opportunities and coordinates with Marketing to create campaigns.

Sources and qualifies opportunities for business development projects.

Participates in the community through leadership positions on advisory boards and networking groups.

Plans and Executes Business Development Opportunities:

Works with the COO in support of revenue/margin requirements per the annual business development plan.

Identifies and pursues target projects and customers.

Obtains competitive intelligence on market opportunities and new projects.

Builds strategic relationships with design, engineering, and trade partners.

Ensures the company is well positioned in a dynamic market.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Previous experience in a commercial construction negotiation environment.

Comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry and its dynamics.

Ability to develop and execute annual business plans aligned with company goals.

Ability to build strategic relationships with design, engineering, and trade partners.

Inspire staff to recognize and capitalize on business development opportunities.

Education and/or Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field (preferred).

Experience: 10-15 years of experience with a large site preparation, demolition, and utility contractor.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

This position typically involves the use of standard office equipment. Employees are frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hand dexterity to operate a computer.
