Do you enjoy working with others to implement innovative solutions and improve business processes?Being part of the Community Services team will allow you to play a key role in the day-to-day operations of all city departments and make a positive impact in the community.If you are a motivated individual that loves taking on challenges while planning, repairing and improving maintenance to drive meaningful change, and thrives in a fun environment, we invite you to apply!Education/Training/Experience/Special Requirements:A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent.Five years of journey-level experience in the construction and maintenance of parks and other landscaped areas.One year of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of training.A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the City's Vehicle Insurance Policy.Desired: Possession of a Recycle Water Training Certificate. Arborist License.Ability to work extended hours, stand-by assignments, and rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays; and respond to emergency situations.Skills/Abilities:Plans, organizes, supervises, integrates, and evaluates the work of City employees engaged in the construction, maintenance and care of parks, facilities, and equipment related to parks, sports parks, and other City-owned landscape areas.Contributes to the development of and monitors performance against the division's annual budget; prepares budgetary estimates of staff, equipment and materials required for projected maintenance and construction activities.Assists in developing, implementing, and evaluating plans, work processes, systems, and procedures to achieve annual goals, objectives, and work standards.Participates in the selection and training of assigned staff; evaluates the performance of assigned personnel.Participates in the development of plans, specifications and contracts for projected park maintenance and construction activities.Coordinates and inspects the work of contractors engaged in the construction, maintenance and repair of parks, other landscaped areas, and buildings and facilities associated with the parks.Coordinates and works with other divisions to execute special events, street and parking lot closures, equipment set up and take downs.Responds to citizen complaints or inquiries by phone, email, or in person.Coordinates the work of the division with other City departments, outside agencies or concerned citizen groups.Coordinates with other divisions to conduct homeless encampment clean ups and mitigation.Coordinates with sports groups on field maintenance and activities.Monitors developments related to park maintenance operations, evaluates their impact, and implements policy and procedure improvements.Prepares and maintains written and electronic records and correspondence; maintains and updates written manuals and instructions.Supervises the maintenance and repair of the municipal pool controls and associated equipment.Characteristics:An upbeat attitude, eager to participate and actively engage in all aspects of the organization.A passion for producing outstanding quality of work and delivering exceptional program outcomes.A self-starter with a can-do attitude who will take initiative to address issues and propose solutions.Detail and process-oriented individual who prides themselves on high quality, error-free work.A high-performing, genuine, authentic individual with a good sense of humor will thrive in this role.Integrity, and principled decision-maker, regardless of outside pressures.The position is a full-time benefited position with a 4/10 work week, every Friday off, unless emergency occurs.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:The ideal candidate will be customer service focused, possess excellent judgment, and have attention to detail.
