If you thrive in an environment where individual contributions are both visible and recognized, Röhm may be right for you.WHAT THE ROLE DELIVERSThe Rail and Marine Logistics Manager will manage Rail (carload) and Marine modes (inland barge/bulk ocean tanker) planning, execution, operations, and compliance for shipments in RAM (Roehm Americas Region) to achieve Roehm BU service, cost, and sustainability targets. You will also manage Rail and Marine carrier relationships including performance, commercial, operational, and administrative, in coordination with Procurement. Additionally, you will manage the operation and administration of the Roehm leased rail fleet, including fleet size, car types, mechanical specifications, maintenance/repair activities, regulatory compliance and leasing activities in coordination with Procurement and Controlling.You will be the RAM lead/subject expert in safety and regulatory compliance for Rail and Marine transport (hazmat/non-hazmat), coordinating with Global safety and regulatory management.WHAT YOU WILL DOManage Regulatory, Safety, and Security compliance for Rail and Marine transportation and associated Roehm equipment fleets. (AAR, PHMSA, DoT HM, TDG, IMO).Manage all aspects of Rail and Marine transport operations assuring carriers, and related 3rd parties, support of Roehm operations. Assure carrier alignment with Roehm’s volumes, operating requirements, service expectations, and quality specifications. Develop Roehm requirements in collaboration with Roehm Product lines, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Management, and Procurement.Manage all aspects of rail and marine fleet operations, maintenance, and compliance. Manage technical specifications of leased equipment in collaboration with lessors for compliance with regulations. Manage the selection and direct activities of repair and cleaning facilities / mobile repair crews to maintain fleet and make repairs as necessary. Assure fleet availability commensurate with business requirements.With Procurement, manage carrier and equipment supplier commercial relationships and activities, both strategic and tactical, including pricing, contracting, and strategy. Represent Roehm’s interests with carriers, suppliers, and industry organizations (AAR, NEARS, SWARS, etc.)Manage operations, including safety and EHS, for 3rd party distribution tank terminals. Coordinate with Transportation the rail inbound and transload operations activities at 3rd party rail transfer terminals. Coordinate daily order management activities with Logistics Distribution. Manage service provider relationships in collaboration with Procurement.Develop performance metrics for Marine and Rail carriers/operations, including fleets, and systems/processes to measure and manage performance to meet Roehm requirements. Engage/manage 3rd party service providers to collect and provide data on these activities and integrate with internal reporting processes as required.Manage freight quotation, costing, settlement, and payment processes for Rail and Marine transport, and fleet leasing/management activities, in coordination with Freight Payment, Accounts Payable, Controlling, and Procurement.Manage SAP/ERP, and related/connected system, processes supporting routing, transport, and payment execution. Assure correct rail and marine routings are understood and executed by shipping locations.Coordinate Quality Management procedures and processes, including survey/sampling activities, of marine and rail shipments following requirements or procedures issued by Quality Assurance, Procurement, and the Product Lines.The role requires domestic and international travel up to 40%.WHAT WE ARE SEEKINGBS in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Management, or related disciplines.5-10 years’ experience with rail transportation and rail fleet management, including managing vendor performance.Relevant experience with inland barge and ocean tanker operations.Experience with ERP/MRP processes, with direct SAP experience desirable.Understanding of the dynamics of logistics network design and flow of materials.Experience with Freight Payment processes and integration with Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable processes.WHAT WE OFFERCompetitive compensation and a benefits package that you’d expect from a global company: competitively priced medical, dental and vision; 401k with company match; separate company funded retirement account equal to 6% of your pay; life and disability insurance; a strong paid time off plan; and a range of elective insurances at group rates to cover some of life’s curve-balls.... and much more.
