St. Edward's University of Austin, Texas invites applications for the position of Assistant Director for Career Exploration and Campus Outreach. This position is tasked with spearheading student outreach initiatives that are integral to fostering early engagement and comprehensive career preparation. This role is pivotal in supporting St. Edward's University's "Career Everywhere" campus culture and ecosystem, ensuring career development is seamlessly integrated across all facets of student life. Working in alignment with Strategic Plan 2027, the Assistant Director will collaborate with the CAPD team, faculty, staff, and various campus stakeholders to design and deliver innovative career programming. Additionally, this role includes serving as co-leader of the Career Coaching team, providing tailored career guidance to students and alumni, and enhancing the university's career resources and outreach strategies.

This is a full-time, live-on (on-campus private apartment provided as part of compensation package), twelve-month position reporting to the Director for Career and Professional Development.

Required qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in counseling, higher education, human resources, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

At least three years, preferred four years of related experience in career advising/academic advising/other relevant student support services, marketing, sales, and/or recruiting in industry, government, education, or the private sector.

Possess strong presentation and written/oral communication skills.

Understanding and familiarity with all areas pertaining to the job search, application, and interview process.

Demonstrated ability to work with diverse students, faculty, and employers.

Ability to function effectively as a member of a cohesive team.

Ability to comply with workplace guidelines and attendance requirements.

Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check required.

Preferred qualifications:

Master's degree in counseling, higher education, human resources, or related field.

Understanding of international student population needs and legal issues pertaining to their curricular and optional practical training (OPT and CPT) restrictions.

Awareness of legal issues as they pertain to employment practices within the US.

Knowledge of local and national job markets and trends.

Experience and knowledge of career assessment instruments and their administration/interpretation.

Understanding and appreciation of the liberal arts.

Essential Responsibilities

Lead the Residential Career Initiative, integrating career development into the residential living experience and engaging students with career planning early in their academic journey.

Support the "Career Everywhere" Campus Career Ecosystem and Culture, promoting the integration of career services into the student experience across Student Affairs and Academic Affairs.

Serve as the liaison to the Munday School of Business and collaborate to plan, promote, and assess MSB Career Edge programming and support other internship preparation programming across campus.

Serve as co-leader of the Career Coaching team, developing new career development resources to enhance the quality and relevance of career guidance, and ensuring the professional development and training of career coaching staff.

Instruct and create content for the Topics in Career Planning and Management (CPAM) course.

Perform individual career advising and coaching, especially with students in assigned School on: career and values exploration, job search, career/major decision-making and goal-setting, internships and experiential opportunities, and graduate school application/admission.

Provide support and critiques to students and alumni with resume/cover letter writing, professional networking, and interviewing strategies.

Develop and deliver effective career-related workshops and seminars for students.

Remain current on job market trends and career opportunities for students and alumni of the university.

Assist with development of career/professional development-based written and web-based resources including handouts and online instructional guides.

Actively develop and strengthen relationships and partnerships, working closely with Deans, Department Chairs, faculty, and staff across the university.

Assist in assessing usage and effectiveness of office programs and services through measurable data collection.

Assist with planning, development, and marketing of office-sponsored fairs and events.

Responsible for regulatory and policy compliance as it applies to the position.

Other duties as assigned.
