We are currently seeking multiple
Survey Party Chiefs
to join our
Survey Division
Project is in the Suffolk, Virginia area
POSITION SUMMARY
In this role you can expect to manage, instruct, and train a survey crew of 1 -5 people, including but not limited to assigning and monitoring work and providing evaluations.
Complete surveying for boundary and topographic, ALTA, GPS, hydrographic and control surveys. Work with construction plans and provide surveying for large, fast paced commercial projects. Perform 90% of work in the field and may be conducted outside in various conditions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the operation and maintenance of survey equipment used on job site and assist with training others when practical
Prepare field sketches/drawings and high-quality field notes, including level notes, for each project in accordance with company and general survey standards
Assemble all instruments and measuring devices needed to complete various types of survey work assignments. Accurately run and adjust survey-measuring instruments including level, transit, theodolite, electronic measuring devices and total stations with electronic data collecting capabilities
Ensure that the proper equipment is loaded, and batteries charged for the next assignment
Perform mathematical calculations
Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
Understanding of basic sources of measurement errors
Knowledgeable of principles of construction staking and stake markings
Adhere to company safety policies along with use of supplied personal protective equipment (PPE)
Provide positive client/public relations in the field
Accountable for completing assigned tasks
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
REQUIRED TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR SKILLS
Construction staking and data collection systems experience required
Ability to perform basic GPS operations
Proficient with Robotic Total Station
Be familiar with basic computer applications
Possess good interpersonal skills, and effective written and oral communication skills
Minimum 7-10 years of experience as a Crew Leader/Party Chief
Valid driver’s license required
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required
Requires knowledge of both survey technology and basic civil engineering concepts.
PREFERRED TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR SKILLS
Five or more years of experience as a Crew Leader/Party Chief
Surveying license or LSIT
Strong experience performing complex surveying calculations
Experience with Trimble or similar software
Commercial construction experience
