Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Assessment and Accreditation plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the institution's academic programs and academic and student services that support student success adhere to accreditation standards and maintain high-quality benchmarks. This position involves leading assessment activities, providing feedback on assessment results, supporting accreditation activities and consultation on the design of survey instruments for program improvement purposes. This position will provide support for assessment of academic programs, administrative units and the general education at Rice, support SACSCOC and program accreditation efforts, and serve as a consultant to university departments on the design of survey instruments to answer questions that can yield data for program improvement. Collaborating closely with faculty, staff, and administrators, the Assistant Director will help enhance educational program and administrative department effectiveness through the support of ongoing continuous improvement initiatives. The Assistant Director will help prepare materials that advise institutional leadership on intricate regulatory, and compliance matters and will play a critical role in preparing reporting materials for SACSCOC including the Reaffirmation of Accreditation, Interim Report and substantive change.

Workplace Requirements

This position is local hybrid but may be eligible for a hybrid remote work arrangement. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.

Hiring Range:

$63,100 to $80,000, salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in related field

3 years of related experience in an educational environment

In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.

Prior experience preparing accreditation reports of all kinds

Prior experience coordinating outcomes assessment activities in a postsecondary environment

Prior experience working with outcomes assessment management software and survey software

Preferences:

Master’s degree in related field

More than three years of related professional experience in a postsecondary environment

Experience working with Nuventive and Qualtrics

Familiarity with SACSCOC accreditation

Experience preparing report materials for SACSCOC

Experience consulting with faculty/staff to design surveys for program improvement

Experience supporting assessment of general education/core curriculum

Essential Functions:

Support efforts to ensure that Rice is compliant with SACSCOC requirements

Assist with preparing Reaffirmation, Interim Report, and Substantive Change related documents for SACSCOC.

Support development, improvement, and evaluation of outcomes assessment plans and reports to meet SACSCOC requirements for Rice academic programs and administrative departments.

Work with academic and administrative departments to identify areas for improvement based on assessment results.

Prepare and deliver professional development to Rice faculty and administrative staff related to outcomes assessment, SACSCOC requirements, and survey design for evaluation of program improvement.

Collaborates with faculty and the Executive Director on assessment of general education to include evaluation, reporting, assisting with updates to process as needed, and ensuring compliance with SACSCOC requirements.

Assist with the review of and updates to processes, procedures, and communications associated with SACSCOC compliance.

Supports the Executive Director in providing support to academic programs undergoing programmatic/professional program review

Serves as consultant to faculty and staff as needed in the design of survey questions that support program improvement efforts

Identifies areas of institutional non-compliance, formulates strategies to correct non-compliance, works with OIE and University leadership to implement strategies

Attends SACSCOC and other meetings/conferences as required for accreditation compliance, and/or assessment related activities. Stays current on accreditation standards, regulations, and best practices in higher education assessment.
