Regular PositionOne regular, exempt, full-time position, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year on the Oceanside Campus. The normal work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. The person selected for this position will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation.The first-level interviews with the screening and interview committee will be conducted via Zoom. The second-level interviews may be in-person or via Zoom.RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:

MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all classified staff, administrators, and temporary/hourly short-term employees to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employee’s regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs.The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.Location

Compensation:

Starting at $112,104 per year (range 37, step 1 on the 2024/2025 Classified Salary Schedule), with annual salary step increases up to step 5. In addition, after five years of district service, employees earn a longevity stipend that increases over time.Benefits

Under direction, plan, organize and manage maintenance and operations staff, activities and preventative maintenance functions at all district locations; and perform related duties as assigned.Distinguishing Characteristics

The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.Plan, organize, control, integrate and evaluate the work of the assigned division; with supervisors and staff, develop, implement and monitor work plans to achieve goals and objectives.Manage the performance of building maintenance staff; interview and select new staff; establish performance requirements and personal development targets.Provide day-to-day leadership and work with staff to ensure a high-performance, service-oriented work environment.Direct and oversee the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of district facilities at all campuses/sites.Supervise a variety of building components and skilled trades functions.Consult and coordinate with district personnel and outside contractors to prioritize and schedule work projects.Prepare and maintain a variety of records and reports related to building supplies, inventory, budget, work requests, personnel, injuries, equipment and facilities.Ensure district compliance with laws, policies and regulations.Inspect work sites, work in progress and work completed.Plan, organize, implement, manage and troubleshoot the repair and installation of the district’s electrical systems.Order and maintain equipment, supplies and materials for the maintenance district buildings.Plan, organize and participate in building security operations.Other Duties

Provide facilities and maintenance support services of the district’s fiber optic LAN communication system.Assist in planning/coordinating large capital construction and improvement projects.Perform related duties as assigned.Knowledge of

To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:Graduation from an associate degree program and six years of journey-level experience in one or more of the building maintenance trades, including two years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience in a public agency is preferred.Licenses & Other Requirements

A valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the district’s vehicle insurance program.Certified installer designer of future flex fiber optic certificate for the MiraCosta Community College District may be required. If required, certificate must be obtained within six months of hire; attend certified training classes for update of installation certificate.WORK DIRECTION, LEAD AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
